Summary: 4 Stars Because It's Good For The Price 2009-01-17
Comment: Let's be perfectly clear: This is not a "high quality" saw. It's more like a toy on steroids. That said, it IS a great value purchase if you know what you're getting and you know what you need. I bought this thing for one purpose - to rip laminate flooring. For that, it works great. It weighs almost nothing so it's easy to take to the job, and has a fence that, while not precision, is much better than I was expecting for under a $100. I have a full size table saw for most jobs, but needed something a few times a year that was easily portable. I loved the DeWalt, but just couldn't justify the 4X cost for my needs. I wouldn't get the Ryobi if it was my only saw, but I'd buy it again for the jobs I need it for. The only thing that I really HATE is the small, non-standard, miter slot. I'd love to be able to use the Incra miter guide from my real saw.

Comment: It works like a charm. Good quality for the price. Hope you get free shipping, though, because this one's heavy!

Comment: I'd been wanting a table saw for some time but did'nt really want to bite the bullet til I could afford a good one. ("Buy quality and you only cry once") Well I've had a compound miter saw for a while and I finally had a project that I just couldn't tackle with it or my circular saw. I needed to cut some 3/4" melamine shelves for an entertainment center shelving modification. I initially bought the Ryobi saw at Homey Depot for $99 against my better judgment. But based on the relatively good reviews here I figured it wasn't too bad a risk. Having never owned a table saw I admittedly didn't really know what to look for. After assembling the saw and making a couple of cuts on shorter pieces I realized I needed a saw with a bigger table and a wider cutting capacity. I needed to cut a shelf 23" wide(18" deep). The ryobi doesn't have a table extension so I was limited. (can't remember now the width of the cutting range) So my final verdict on the saw is that it is fine for cutting and ripping of some lumber but not much else. I will note that the cuts I made on the melamine seemed to be accurate without any fine tuning/calibrating of the blade, although the edges of the melamine cuts were jagged (melamine is tricky to cut...I've read) However, I returned the saw and bought the "orange brand" from Homey's Depot. (I know... you can't get those here on Amazon, and it's a shame because I'd much rather buy here due to way better customer service )Long story short, it aint a bad saw for the money if you don't need to cut anything too wide and you aren't cutting melamine. My new "orange" saw made FLAWLESS cuts in the melamine. (I used the same 80 tooth Freud Avanti blade in both saws which you CAN buy here on Amazon--I highly recommend.) I couldn't be happier now. Good luck. ;o)

Comment: Good for a basic table saw. Used it for laminate flooring to make the lengthwise cuts. Worked well even for factory reconditioned.

Summary: Low price - Acceptable tool 2007-06-12
Comment: The Ryobi Saw performs well for my application. It is very light weight. It cuts well and comes with a great blade. Table is small and requires some creativity to cut large pieces of material. All in all is serves me well at the price I paid.
