Its refined heavy-duty trunnion mechanism features rigid, box-style cast-iron construction, high-end bearings, and a conical-shaped worm gear drive with an increased contact area to enhance the smooth, solid feel of the tilt and height adjustment.
A pair of oversized, eight-inch-diameter cast-iron hand wheels, each with a large spinner handle, makes blade height and bevel adjustments virtually effortless. And to prevent long-term use from loosening the hand wheels on their shafts, they are locked in place with machined grooves and keys rather than setscrews.
Precision Machined Arbor and Poly-V Drive Belt System
The full-length 5/8-inch diameter arbor is precision machined from stress-proof steel to exceptionally high tolerances for accuracy. It accepts stacked dado sets up to 13/16-inch wide, and because there is no gap between the threads and arbor shank, thin chippers won't hang out of line.
Also, the push-button arbor lock makes for rapid blade changes, while a high quality poly-V drive belt system transmits more power without slippage or excessive noise.
Generously Sized Tables and Extensions
All the high-luster, cast-iron surfaces are finely ground to ensure a smooth, mar-free work surface that provides more support for big jobs and have both a front- and rear-edge bevel for hassle-free work piece positioning.
Measuring approximately 30.5 x 22.0 inches (W x L), the primary cast-iron tabletop expands to 42 inches long when the standard cast-iron extension wings are bolted up, giving you plenty of space for even large work pieces.
Safe, Sturdy Design
The PM2000 also comes equipped with a newly designed magnetic On/Off switch for safety. To prevent accidental start-ups, there's a removable magnetic "key" that disables the switch when it's not in place. For additional protection against damage, a quick-release riving knife greatly reduces binding/kickback risk.
High-Tech Guard System
The PM2000's blade guard and riving knife system can be adjusted tool-free for the job at hand. At the same time, because the riving knife is mounted directly to the blade mechanism, the gap between it and the blade never changes during height or angle adjustments.
This maintains the safety a riving knife affords in virtually all cutting situations.
Get Accuracy and Precision
An industrial-duty 50-inch Accu-Fence System ensures accurate cuts. Adjustable angle indicators on the blade bevel scale for repeatable bevel cuts. Additionally, a heavy-duty, deluxe, micro-adjust miter gauge with a 13-inch extension fence ensures stable workpiece support and easy fine-angle adjustments.
Finally, to facilitate movement in and around the shop, the massive cast-iron base has a built-in retractable, four-wheel caster system.

The PM2000 measures 37 x 39 x 85 inches (W x H x D), weighs 675 pounds, and is backed by a five-year warranty.

The saw arrived in excellent condition in a big sturdy crate along with several heavy boxes containing the fence and rails. A few comments on this saw. The fit and finish of the saw are excellent. The cast iron top and wings are ground to a fine polish and match up well. The cast iron top on this saw is much larger than that of the Powermatic 66 and the Delta Unisaw. After uncrating and assembling the wings to the top I checked the alignment of the miter slots to the arbor and found it to be less than 0.01" right out of the crate. There was virtually no arbor runout. The arbor is a standard 5/8", but the arbor nut is huge, about double the width of the one on a Unisaw and much thicker. Instead of using a cheap stamped wrench, Powermatic sends you a 27mm box end wrench to use on the arbor nut. Even with the big nut the arbor still accomodates a 13/16" stacked dado head. In addition, the saw has an arbor lock which...Read more 40 of 41 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Powermatic 1792000K Model PM 2000 3 Horsepower Cabinet Saw with 50-Inch Accu-Fence, 2 Cast Iron Extension Wings, Table Board, and Legs, 230-Volt 1 Phase (Tools & Home Improvement) The first PM2000 shipped by Amazon arrived defective. Here are a list of the problems:
1. When raising the blade the whole trunnion would wander towards he fence by at least .020. 2. The trunnion would twist counter - clockwise on a horizontal plane causing the rear of the blade to wander away from the fence (and the front towards the fence) when raising the blade. Try keeping this one square to the miter slot. Not cool. This was also off by at least .020 front to rear. 3. The nylon shoulders on the fence were far from flat. 4. The fence measurement mark line was in the shape of a thin "V". The V was about 1/16" wide at the top. 5. The insert plate was missing the adjust screws. 6. When WMH sent out the replacement screws it was impossible to get the plate flat with the table. How did this unit make it out of their factory? WMH and Amazon were nice enough to send out a whole new...Read more 20 of 20 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Powermatic 1792000K Model PM 2000 3 Horsepower Cabinet Saw with 50-Inch Accu-Fence, 2 Cast Iron Extension Wings, Table Board, and Legs, 230-Volt 1 Phase (Tools & Home Improvement) Just purchased this saw as an upgrade to a Delta Contractor's Tablesaw. This is sooo much nicer!! Quality throughout. But the fit needed a couple of adjustments:
1. The fence lockdown handle is supposed to screw into the cam lever. Mine came un-tapped! The hole was there but no threads. I could have asked Powermatic for a replacement lever, but I chose to tap the threads myself. Very easy and a quick fix. 2. The molded plastic motor cover needed to have the top plastic hinge enlarged. It would not line up with the steel hinge part mounted on the saw. Again, an easy fix with a drill bit. Other than these minor gliches, this is a super saw. And getting it off the shipping pallets was a snap with the built-in casters. Normally you have to have a couple fiends help heft it from the pallet. Not this saw. I layed out the 2x4 crate side supports and added a piece of plywood to make a ramp, cranked down the casters and just rolled it off single-handedly! Sweet...Read more |
