Powermatic 1791223K Model 64A 10-Inch Left Tilt 1-1/2 Horsepower Contractor Saw with 52-Inch Microglide Fence, and 2 Cast Iron Extension Wings, 115/230-Volt 1 Phase

I bought the Powermatic 64A as a replacement for a 12 year old Ryobi BT3000 after research on Delta, DeWalt, Grizzly, Jet and Sears Craftsman saws. My key requirements were a 120V contractor saw with a table and fence that stay square and true. So far, I haven't been disappointed.

The saw was easy to assemble until I got to installing the fence. The wrong rear fence rail was sent with the saw and the bolt holes didn't line up with the table. I chose to have the rail replaced rather than drilling new holes. I contacted Powermatic directly at Amazon's instruction and a replacement rear fence rail arrived within a week.

I did three things to the saw to make it work better for me: (1) replaced the stock V-belt with a link drive belt to lower vibration and it really helps, (2) custom-made a sawdust containment system that fits around the motor drive area to cut down on the inevitable sawdust that emanates from a contractor saw and (3) bought a HTH mobile base so...Read more

My guess is that this is a very nice saw, but I haven't been able to use it since the wrong fence was sent to me, and Amazon hasn't done a good job getting the problem solved. I bought the saw on February 22, and they estimate that the correct fence will be deliverd on April 4. I wouldn't recommend purchasing large equipment like this from Amazon based on this experience.

Again, I'm sure this is a great saw, but I'm still waiting to find out for sure.
