3.0 out of 5 stars OK for an occasional use saw, January 18, 2011

This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned Black & Decker FS200SDR 10-in Firestorm Table Saw (Misc.)
I decided on this saw because I wasn't prepared to spend hundreds more for a tool I'll only use occasionally. I don't regret that decision but this saw has some shortcomings as noted in the other review. Last night I was ripping plywood and the saw worked great. I just check and double check the distance of the rip fence to the blade. I don't count on the fence to be right on with just a lock down of the handle, it's not. The miter gauge has way too much play in the slot to cut anything but small pieces. Trying to crosscut anything longer than 2 feet or so ends in frustration and I haven't found any aftermarket parts that fit the odd sized T slot to even try to make a crosscut sled. The switch is well marked and large but I found it difficult to hit to turn on of off when I couldn't actually see it due to a workpiece. Which made me wonder what would happen if I HAD to turn the saw off immediately.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sloppy dangerous toy, February 13, 2010
This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned Black & Decker FS200SDR 10-in Firestorm Table Saw (Misc.)
This portable table saw is made in China like everything else, and is marketed in several parts of the world in various packages.

The one I got included a decently study metal table and instructions in three languages, including English. The model I received was marked "Professional" -- which is a very bad joke. There is no way that this is a professional-grade tool. The table is way too small for any sort of work with wood that extends more than a few inches beyond the table. It is also so imprecise and sloppy in its handling of wood stock that it can't be considered a recommended item. Black and Decker is way down on the list wherein quality of tools is concerned. I think they exist so that young wives can buy their husbands something cheap and (unknowingly) dangerous for the home garage. I ended up with this one because where I am (southern end of South America) there was nothing else available on hand except even worse Chinese no-name junk tools)...Read more
