This saw is great once it is set up. Like almost everyone else on here says, the directions pretty much stink! I am a mechanical engineer with a strong practical background working with machines. It took me the better part of a day to set it up. The hardest part was leveling and ensuring flatness and being parallel of the tables. Once I tapped the feet and inserted leveling bolts, the problem was fixed. I don't know how you would level it otherwise! I bought an upgraded saw blade ahead of time. It is definitely worth it! Max Tools did a terrible job communicating with me regarding order shipment. First they say the product will ship in 1-2 days. Baloney! It took over a week for it to ship. Then they gave me the shipment tracking order for the free appreciation gift rather than the saw! When I called back to get the right tracking order, they couldn't help me. The tool is a real workhorse and a great value with all the things that come with it. But... it took one our guys a full day to put it together because the extension side table when screwed into the saw sat 3/4" higher that the table saw top and the screw holes were such that if the bracket was screwed in it would not be parallel to the edge of the saw table. There were no directions for that part of the assembly so we sent our man to look at the other saw we have in service. We ended up drilling and tapping new holes for the brackets that support the press board table extension. Perhaps we missed something or got a wrong part but without instructions and a diagram there is no way to tell. I purchased this setup about 3 years ago from Tylor Tools. My package included the out feed table and the shipping was free at the time, this combination made it an extraordinary deal. As the central unit in my shop, I use it to make fine furniture, jewelry and music boxes. From large to small projects this has been a good reliable saw. It runs smooth , true and has plenty of power in the 120 volt configuration to cut the hardest of woods.
The wide table and rip fence bars are great for cutting large sheet goods and the fence is easily adjusted and remains true. You do have to make sure that you clean the guide bars on occasion and the shuttle parts on the fence as build up of dust on these parts can cause small changes in the angle of the fence which can cause binding on small precision cuts. I also have the side sliding table which is useful for panel and other cuts. It is smooth and provides true cuts as well. My only complaint would be that the saw needs a...Read more |
