The single-phase, 3-horsepower induction motor is housed in a dust-sealed, fan-cooled enclosure, and power is transferred smoothly and efficiently via a positive-traction three-belt V-drive system. The motor cover has handy storage slots for your miter gauge and table inserts, but more importantly, the inside is designed to maximize the airflow for dust collection and, in conjunction with the redesigned cabinet interior, funnel all the dust efficiently to the 4-inch dust port without a hitch.
This model comes with a 50-inch commercial Biesemeyer fence system. While the basics of this popular fence design have been copied by competing saw and fence manufacturers, there's still nothing quite like the original. The Biesemeyer is made of the heaviest gauge steel we've seen on a T-square type fence, and the fence face itself is made of laminated 9-ply Finland birch, glued solidly in place--a construction method that eliminates warpage in the fence line that the bolts or screws used in competing systems can cause. The fence locks to the front guide rail using Biesemeyer's three-point locking system and automatically aligns the fence parallel to the blade when the lever is tightened down, providing reliable accuracy every time. --Brian Trinen

Every cut seems perfect, I got rid of a craftsman I had bought used.... It took a few hours to assemble, but I'm totally happy with the sawOn the other hand, the fence had a chip out of it when I recieved it. ... Well, I'm waiting for the new fence ... For that my rating goes down a star. ... All in all I would recommend buying the saw... I've had the saw over a month, and just got notified the replacement fence will be at least 2 more weeks! 10 of 11 people found the following review helpful: By steve middleton (metropolis, illinois United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: DELTA 36-821 Special Edition 10-Inch Tilting Arbor Unisaw with Biesemeyer 50-Inch T-Square Commercial Fence (Tools & Home Improvement) When guys like "Norm" and others recommend the Unisaw, they are not kidding about how nice and smooth they cut compared to contractor type saws. Unisaws and all cabinet/type table saws are made for woodworkers. You can balance a nickle on it's edge, turn the saw on, shut it down, turn it on again - the nickle doesn't fall over. It's that smooth. I expect that most all cabinet saws are this good - I really don't know. The reason I like and recommend the Unisaw is that they are pretty much unchanged as far as internal parts are concerned. In other words, if your 1950 model Unisaw needs a new trunion - chances are it's still in stock. This tool definately falls into that category of "expensive but worth it." 6 of 7 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: DELTA 36-821 Special Edition 10-Inch Tilting Arbor Unisaw with Biesemeyer 50-Inch T-Square Commercial Fence (Tools & Home Improvement) I had went thru about three craftsman saws when I decided to purchase a unisaw. I had held back sometime because of the cost. When I started using it I knew why there was a difference in cost factor. I also wondered how my old saw was rated at 3 HP,when there is no comparison between it and the 3 HP unisaw. It was like changing from from a model T Ford to a new Cad. What a difference! I highly recommend spending a few more dollars and getting what you really want. Very satified with it and wished I had purchased it sooner. |
