For such a powerhouse, it’s amazing that this saw runs on a standard household current. This is huge bonus for the home woodworker who’ll be plugging this saw into a basement or garage outlet. It can be rewired for 220 volts, of course, if that’s what you’re set up for.
Once it’s all assembled and set up (be prepared to work!), this is one rock-solid saw, tipping the scales at 358 pounds. The large table and extensions are smooth-as-glass cast iron, and you get a generous 30-inch rip capacity to the right of the blade, 13-1/2 inches to the left. This saw comes with Delta’s own T2 30-inch Fence and Rail; you can buy this same saw with either a Unifence or a Biesemeyer, but we’re as happy with one as the other. The 30-inch T2 that comes with this saw has a three-point T-square locking system with a hairline pointer for super accuracy, and the extruded aluminum fence face attaches to solid steel angle iron and tubing. It glides easily on its rails and lifts off quickly and easily, but what we liked best was the rear hold-down support for use with featherboards and jigs.
Paired with the superb fence on this saw is a beautiful, heavy-duty T-slot miter gauge. We like it particularly because it has a larger face than most gauges, and that gives you a lot more stability as the gauge travels. The other thing that puts this gauge at the head of its class is that you can easily micro-adjust all the positive stops.
We hope you use your blade guards, but if you don’t and it’s because it gets in the way of blade height measurement, this saw even solves that problem. The guard locks neatly in the raised position so you can measure accurately without dodging the guard.
Vibration is absolutely minimal, in part because the saw is so heavy and solid, but Delta’s poly-V belt has little ribs that line up with the pulley, producing smooth power. The way a saw runs is most important, but we also like how this one stops: There’s a huge "off" paddle switch under the front left fence rail, easily hit in an emergency and just plain convenient the rest of the time.
Dust collection is better than we anticipated, in part because inside the closed cabinet, there are ramps that let the waste slide down to the 4-inch dust port, where your dust collection system can carry it away.
Whether you’re looking to step up from a contractor’s saw or you’re adding to a shop of cabinet saws, you will not be disappointed with this saw.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

This review is from: DELTA 36-715 Hybrid 10-Inch Left Tilt 1-3/4 Horsepower Intermediate Saw with T2 30-Inch Fence and 2 Cast Iron Extension Wings, 115/230-Volt 1 Phase (Tools & Home Improvement) My order for this saw went in on a Monday, the 3 fence boxes came via UPS on Thursday, and the saw itself was delivered, via ABF Freight on Friday! The saw couldn't have been packed more professionally by Delta, on a pallet with all the other items carefull packed around it, and covered in a plywood box. Nothing missing, nothing damaged. I have assembled a few table saws in my life, so I guess I may have an advantage over some in knowing what to expect and how to deal with getting everything tweaked. It is a rock-solid saw, very well machined, from the cast iron top and wings to the cabinet itself. Remember that the cast iron wings are NOT machined to fit the specific saw that they arrive with, you may have to remove a little material from the edge that mates to the table....this alleviates the problem of the extension ending up too high when you tighten up the bolts. It doesn't take long to do this if you take your time with a sander or...Read more 21 of 23 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: DELTA 36-715 Hybrid 10-Inch Left Tilt 1-3/4 Horsepower Intermediate Saw with T2 30-Inch Fence and 2 Cast Iron Extension Wings, 115/230-Volt 1 Phase (Tools & Home Improvement) This was my first experience ordering 'heavy metal' (ie large stationary workshop tools) from Amazon, and I wouldn't do it again. Here's the good (+) and the bad (-) along with some tips if you get stuck too:
+/- Price: yes, with an Amazon sale I paid $589 and got free shipping, while at local stores, the saw was $699. But think about how much your time is worth when you have to resolve difficult issues yourself. + Shipping: can't complain. The fence came via 3 UPS boxes. The main (350#) saw came ABF motor freight, and the driver had a liftgate truck, pallet jack, and cooperative attitude. TIP 1: although Amazon site says you can't track this shipment, actually you can! Just go to www.abfs.com and put in the reference number Amazon provides. I was able to schedule my delivery optimally. --- Packing: the saw comes in a crate, and while there was no obvious external damage, once unpacked many problems appeared. The sheet metal motor...Read more 15 of 16 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: DELTA 36-715 Hybrid 10-Inch Left Tilt 1-3/4 Horsepower Intermediate Saw with T2 30-Inch Fence and 2 Cast Iron Extension Wings, 115/230-Volt 1 Phase (Tools & Home Improvement) Summary:
Overall, this is a great value product for the price I paid. It runs great once you get it setup properly. However, the setup was far more diffcult than I feel is reasonable (see below for details). Pros: -Solid construction with cast iron top -Cabinet construction makes dust collection possible -When setup properly there is little vibration -The saw isn't overly noisy and is fairly accurate -The stock miter guage is of good quality -The fence system (T2) is solid, accurate and reliable Cons: -The arbor alignment was far out of tolerance when delivered. My saw was about 0.02" out of alignment while an acceptable amount is less than 0.007". -Adjusting the arbor alignment is difficult due to the presence of the cabinet and the location of the arbor bolts. The manual offers little useful advice to help you correct alignment problems -There is no mobile base made specifcally for this model...Read more |
